Winter in Honolulu

As I washed my cars this past Sunday, I noticed that Diamond Head was starting to turn green. This is is how I know winter is here. I did not know it but the next day, Monday December 21, 2009 was the first day of winter.

We do not have fall colors or a white Christmas here in Honolulu, green is winter's color. Hawaiian Christmas colors as this grease monkey sees it are green, red and gold. I love Hawaiian winters, cool crisp mornings and comfortable afternoons. Sometimes it gets cool enough in the evenings to enjoy a mug of hot cocoa with the kids. No fireplace to roast marshmallows though, we use a butane torch.

Perhaps one day I will experience fall oranges and reds, or a white Christmas...but they will have to shorten that plane ride to less than an hour!

  1. "in Honolulu, green is winter's color." Those of us shivering on the east coast might have to head to Hawaii just to make you suffer a little for the comment =) Happy winter!
